As I was thinking of what to write, I thought it was so interesting how one day can make such a difference in so many peoples lives. May 31st will always be celebrated by Matthew and Tara, along with their children and families, as the day they started a brand new adventure together. As I think about how wonderful the day was, it makes me excited to start a journey of my own someday. Tara did a beautiful job of planning her and Matt's special day. Enjoy the pictures!
We started out the day by getting ready at Tara's house. She made each bridesmaid a "goody box" full of treats to keep us happy throughout the day. There were mints, crackers and cheese, grapes, crystal light packets, and lots of other treats inside. It was so cute I didn't want to eat it!
The wedding took place at the Smith-Appleby House in Smithfield, RI. The grounds are beautiful!
If I could sum up the theme of the wedding, I would have to say it was "rustic elegance". Everything was very natural and simple, yet beautifully designed. These were the centerpieces, which consisted of a few different types of vases including mason jars, and balls of wicker and moss. There were birch stumps to hold up the table number, which had the tapas menu on the back.

She had a table designated for the guest book and wedding pictures of both of their grandparents, parents, and aunts and uncles. It was such a thoughtful idea and many of the family members were so proud to see their pictures displayed.

Tara made these tissue paper poofs, which the wedding coordinator hung all around the tent and on the bridge.

Before the ceremony started, and then at the reception, these glass urns were used to serve drinks. They contained lemonade, iced tea and basil lemon water!

Her dress was from Watters (through Pearl's Place) and fit her perfectly! Her shoes were from Kenneth Cole Reaction and her reception shoes were yellow jelly flats from J.Crew.

All the bridesmaids got to pick their own dresses. The color was a misty shade of green.

Other details:
The wedding favors were two wood pencils tied together with ribbon.
At each guest table, there was a note under one person's chair that told them they could have the centerpieces.
Tara made little lanterns out of mason jars and 5 hour burning candles that were hung around the tent with thin wire. They added a nice touch to the ambiance of the night.
Each bridesmaid's bouquet was slightly different and matched their groomsmen.
Before the reception, there was an hour of refreshments with a live, three piece jazz band.

I am sure there are more details that I have left out. The pictures were taken by Kristen Spencer and will soon be on her website or blog. Make sure to check them out!
(Tara also had some cute ideas at her rehearsal dinner which I will share tomorrow. )

i thought the goddie bag idea for the girls in the wedding party was awesome. it's usually thought of as the bride's day, but she actually thought of the girls' comfort too.
i'm enjoying reading your blogs btw :)
keep 'em coming!
