ok so here is our engagement story. sorry it took so long to get it out. i guess planning a wedding in 16 weeks takes more time than i thought!
how it happened...
dave took me to our favorite spot, crane beach, and we toured the crane estate (photo above from the summer). i knew he was going to ask me because we had talked about rings but i didn't know when. we had planned the trip to crane beach a few weeks before but it was supposed to rain so we didn't go. unbeknownst to me, dave had my beautiful ring hiding under his bed the whole time we waited for nice weather.
i got up early saturday morning, wondering if this would be my last time in my apartment as a "single" women (i am so dramatic) and got ready for the day (outfit post to follow when i get the pics). he picked me up and we took the long drive to the north shore. he asked me at one point why my hands were so sweaty and i made up some story about it having to do with my body not feeling well (not sure why he believed it).
we took a tour of the estate then went down to the beach. while we walked down to the water i thought i saw the ring box in his pocket and got SO nervous. we made the seemingly endless walk to the perfect spot then started throwing rocks in the water (dave's excuse for buying time). he gave me a hug at one point and i felt his heart pounding. i thought i was going to throw up. as i knelt down to pick up another rock, he got on his knee. i turned around and started crying/jumping up and down.
he asked me to be his wife, i said yes, and then we sat and talked about the million questions i had. when did you ask my dad? how did you pick out the perfect ring? how long have you had it? because i am curios george.
we walked back to the car, called all our family and texted a million friends, then went to his parents house. he told me he had the whole day planned but we had to stop there first. when we were 5 minutes from the house i told him i was about to pee my pants. he made me wait till we got there , terrible idea.
once we got to the house i ran out of the car, hugged his parents, then told them i had to go the bathroom. i sprinted inside and was surprised by all of our family, grandparents, and cousins saying congratulations!! of course i bursted out with "i have to go the bathroom!!" and ran away. i always have the right thing to say in social situations.
we spent the rest of the day talking about wedding plans and finding it awkward that 1 day early we weren't "allowed" to talk about being married but that today it was all ok.
and that's it. it was perfect. he is the best most amazing person ever and i can't wait till february 5th (yes, we think that is the day) to be an italian-in-law!

I think these types of engagements--when he asks in a pretty place that is special to the two of you--are the best :) (because that's how mine was as well, haha) Congrats again, can't wait to see pictures!
Aw, congrats again, Hillary!
